The "Canada on the Wing" series was the first in the Discovering Nature Series, celebrating birds native to Canada. The 1995 release includes a four-coin 50  cent sterling silver set featuring the Atlantic Puffin, Whooping Crane, Gray Jay, and White-tailed Ptarmigan. These coins were the first sterling 50-cent coins issued in Canada since 1919.
