Roman Era -284-305 - Diocletian (c. 242/245 – 311/312) was a Roman emperor from 284 to 305 CE. He is known for restoring efficient government to the empire after the Crisis of the Third Century and laying the foundation for the Byzantine Empire. Diocletian implemented significant reforms, including the establishment of the Tetrarchy, which divided the empire into four regions governed by two senior emperors (Augusti) and two junior emperors (Caesares) . His reign also marked the last major persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire . Diocletian was born to a low-status family in the Roman province of Dalmatia and rose through the military ranks to become emperor
